To use Snap! by Lectora with Microsoft PowerPoint 2010, you must have the 32-bit version of Microsoft Office installed on your computer. Microsoft recommends installing a 32-bit version because existing extensions, such as ActiveX controls (like Flash), third-party add-ins (like Snap! by Lectora), in-house solutions built on previous versions of Office will not run in a 64-bit version of Office. With Snap! by Lectora, you can record and edit video, record and edit audio and narration, create quizzes and surveys, and add attachments, such as embedded web pages, Flash animations, and more. You can host your Snap! by Lectora presentations on any LMS or website. You can also host your presentations on Snap! Live which is a free 30 day service offered to Snap! by Lectora users.

If you are not directly publishing content to HTML or to Snap! Live, you may encounter a Flash Player Security warning that blocks the Flash Player. In this instance, simply use the Flash Player Settings Manager to add the content to your trusted list so that it can communicate with the Internet. When the security warning box appears, click on the Settings button. Next, click Edit Locations and then click Add a Location. Here, you will navigate to the location of the content you want to add. Snap! Empower content can be played on any mobile device that has a browser enabled to play Flash content. It can also create .MP4 video files that will play on video iPods, iPhones and any mobile device that supports MPEG4.

A Template is a Page that can be saved, shared and reused in the Snap! Empower application to create your Project. Snap! Empower templates aren’t just simple “place your text here” examples as in other applications. Rather, they are fully customizable, pre-programmed, professionally designed Pages that contain media (images, video, audio), animations, timing, interactions and other elements that you can edit, resave and publish as a new file. Professionally designed Templates are accessible from the library directly within the application and can be endlessly modified, saved, shared and re-used. Create your own Templates to reuse and share to save time and money, and to get a true return and value out of every project investment.

A Snap! Empower Component is a pre-programmed element that provides media, text, interaction, effects and other capabilities on a Page. Components provide the functional elements that make up Templates in Snap! Empower. Simply drag a Component to your Page and modify options and settings from the Properties tab. You have complete control over the Page with a few clicks – no programming required.

A “Project” is the file that is created when building content using Snap! Empower. You’re telling an interactive, multimedia story, regardless of how you use the output. Post it on your blog, share it via the Web, publish as a movie or even share via social media in one click. Projects may have many files associated with them such as video, music, images and more.

Snap! Live is a free 30 day service offered to Snap! by Lectora users.

Once you publish your Snap! by Lectora content you are able to share the URL with anyone. Only those that have the unique link will be able to find your content.

Simply select the Publish to Snap! Live button directly within Snap! by Lectora to easily post your content. Once published to Snap! Live, it is the author’s responsibility to forward the email or send the URL to others for review.

Your content is only available on Snap! Live for 30 days after posting. After 30 days the content will expire and the address of the content will no longer be valid. Stay tuned for information on how to extend the time your content is available on Snap! Live beyond the initial 30 days.
